Lauren… WOW.

Not much else to say. Well, maybe a little. I got to meet the Rathbun family right before heading home to Phoenix this week. Lauren needed some senior pictures and the family decided to add on a family shoot as well. It was a blast. What a fantastic, easy going, up for anything threesome. THANK YOU so much, Rathbun family, for allowing me to provide you with these special and momentous images! I hope you love them as much as I do (and trust me, I am deeply in love with them)! Lauren, anyone can see you are absolutely stunningly gorgeous…. but its pretty obvious to me that is starts in the inside. Blessings to you as you finish up this season in your life!

Email Issues

I am so sorry if I haven’t replied to your emails as of late. I thought I had figured out how to forward my chelseahudson.com emails to another address while I was out of town. Hope you all had a lovely holiday time with family last week. We sure did here in Texas. The forecast included lots of rain and coldness, but as is usually the case here in TX, it was the opposite… sunny, warm, perfect.

julie & eric | just because

I get all the pretty ones.

Seriously…. you would think that somehow I must have some kind of “pretty people” radar going on. What can I say, they flock to me. Eric and Julie are no exception, as you can see. Eric and my husband work together and he is also the brother of the groom of the last wedding I shot. Julie is just stunningly gorgeous. Period. And we all met at the crack of dawn in Old Town Scottsdale for a fun “just because” shoot this weekend. Julie and Eric, you guys were a blast to work with! Thanks for braving the morning hours to capture the best light and least amount of people!

How on earth did I miss this one??? :)

Portland, Oregon…. *sigh*

I flew out to Portland this past weekend to visit a dear friend of mine (my first college roommate) for my 30th birthday. The entire trip was just pure pleasure at every turn.

First of all, the city itself ws the closest I have been to a European city, and that did my soul good. I miss Berlin. I miss the european lifestyle so much. So Portland was a sweet surprise on that front… from the amazing public transport system, to the cafe’s and coffee shops on every corner, to the quirky, artsy neighborhoods and shops, to the unending amount of ethnic restaurants, to the healthier/greener/simpler lifestyle just about everyone seems to embrace. All of it was a breath of fresh air. Oh and the air WAS fresh, oh so cool and crisp and fresh.

Secondly, the landscape and fall foliage was just breathtaking… rolling hills, jutting cliffs, unpretensious wineries and vineyards in the countryside. Even in the off and on rain, it was all a sight to behold.

And lastly, the particular company I kept made it all the more special and enjoyable. Old friends are the best of friends. Nicole and Matt rolled out the red carpet and gave me quite the welcome to their beloved city. The fellowship, food, drives, wine, shopping, Friends episodes…. all were just perfect and even more than I had hoped for.

And to top it off, Nic and Matt let me shoot them over and over and over… and over…. and over. And as you can see, they are not only fabulously gorgeous and stylish… but obviously so in love (after 3 years of marriage), and so in “like” with each other. They are fun. They have fun. They love being together. And all of that comes screaming out at you from these photos. Get ready for a long post, folks. I just couldn’t narrow it down to a handful of fav’s… these are happy pictures and I am still smiling as I look at them for the umpteenth time.

A note to future clients…. if you really want me to get uber excited about taking pictures of you, wear red heels….. I will love you forever.

Autumn & Jason ~ Belly Pics

Autumn is a friend from church and is expecting her first, a baby boy. I am hosting a baby shower for her this weekend and wanted to get some belly pics of her to use as decorations. Any excuse for a shoot, right? The light was amazing and Jason and Autumn introduced me to some really great locations. We even went to the place that they got married at and took some maternity pictures there…. talk about significance. Can’t wait to meet baby boy, Autumn!!

The Stars and Stripes…

No, this is not a political post. The stars I am referring to are the following 4 people (and canine): Kathy, Mike, Owen and Noah. And the stripes are just, well, you will just have see for yourself. What a fun family and fun shoot this was! Noah, the dog, and Owen, the baby, competitively competed for “best of show” and I have to say they tied. What can I say? I am a sucker for both! I mean come on – look at them!!!!

Another teaser….

I know, I know… I am being really delinquent in getting the Gwen & Brian pics up in their entirety. I promise… they are coming soon! Slideshow too! For now, you can get an inside peak as to what I deal with in the editing process.

Sometimes I see a killer image… one that just jumps out at me and I want to see it enhanced any way I can. I try black and white…. and love it. I give it a vintage look and feel… and love it. I add some texture… and love it. And in the end, I am stuck with 5 different “looks” of the same image… and I can’t for the life of me choose which is “best.” So I include them all in the galleries and let the bride and groom hash it out. Maybe they don’t like any of them. Oh well…. I enjoy the process tremendously.

* yes, I know Gwen’s face isn’t showing and that many would prefer that…. but i still love this shot, and think it is very emotive.*
