Last weekend, I had the privilege of second shooting for a local photographer and friend, Jenny Spires. She was shooting a wedding for some dear friends of hers from her church. The wedding, and all its people, was just beautiful. Everything from the colors, to the style and decor, to the HUGE smiles plastered on the bride and groom’s faces just screamed of JOY and CELEBRATION. This was my first time to be a second shooter, and it was a ton of fun. I focussed more on the candids, details… the fun stuff. When I am the primary photographer at weddings, I rarely get to shoot as many of these kinds of shots that I would want, so I was kinda giddy about it all. Jenny did a fantastic job! Check out more of her work HERE and HERE! It was fun seeing her interact with so many of the guests and wedding party, as most of them were her friends. You can tell there was a huge amount of respect her friends had for her both as a person and as a photographer. Here are just a “few” of my favorites from the day:

Or client-friends? 

Susan is definitely just that…. a client-turned-friend. I shot hers and Greg’s wedding in November of 2007 in Baltimore, MD. (If you just can’t resist…. click on the november 2007 archives on the right side of this blog for another look at their fabulous wedding)

Susan and I have kept in contact here and there over the last year or so and I feel so blessed to actually be able to call her friend now, and not just “oh she was my client back in 2007.” 

Today, I got the most amazing gift in the mail. Susan and Greg just spent a couple of weeks in India visiting her family there. She remembered how special India was/is to John and I and she picked us up “just a little something.” This gift is totally off the “thoughtfulness” scale to be sure. I was blown away. The card nearly brought me to tears. What a blessing to have client-friends in this business! Susan, thank you AGAIN for your kind thoughts and encouragement across the miles! 

The outfits are for the girls and I and the colors are just perfect. We love ethnic clothes, food, accessories, jewelry… ok, just about anything ethnic. Especially Asian and Indian.

GOOD ELEPHANT PHOTOGRAPHY

Not much else to say. Well, maybe a little. I got to meet the Rathbun family right before heading home to Phoenix this week. Lauren needed some senior pictures and the family decided to add on a family shoot as well. It was a blast. What a fantastic, easy going, up for anything threesome. THANK YOU so much, Rathbun family, for allowing me to provide you with these special and momentous images! I hope you love them as much as I do (and trust me, I am deeply in love with them)! Lauren, anyone can see you are absolutely stunningly gorgeous…. but its pretty obvious to me that is starts in the inside. Blessings to you as you finish up this season in your life!

Ok, I said she was gorgeous, but come on…. isn’t there a much better adjective to describe this level of beauty??!!

I am so sorry if I haven’t replied to your emails as of late. I thought I had figured out how to forward my chelseahudson.com emails to another address while I was out of town. Hope you all had a lovely holiday time with family last week. We sure did here in Texas. The forecast included lots of rain and coldness, but as is usually the case here in TX, it was the opposite… sunny, warm, perfect.

Autumn is a friend from church and is expecting her first, a baby boy. I am hosting a baby shower for her this weekend and wanted to get some belly pics of her to use as decorations. Any excuse for a shoot, right? The light was amazing and Jason and Autumn introduced me to some really great locations. We even went to the place that they got married at and took some maternity pictures there…. talk about significance. Can’t wait to meet baby boy, Autumn!!

Thats how I feel about these albums…. This is Susan & Greg’s album in the flesh. Drink it in. I have been waiting to post this to the blog until Susan and Greg received their album. So without further yapping…

First of all, the packaging…. NICE.

This is what we mean by “no gutter.” The book lays flat. 

And you do not lose any of the picture in the middle of the spread. 

Just an overall REALLY NICE book. The Italian leather cover is smooth and creamy. Yum. 

For any local readers…. come out to Sunnyslope this Saturday for some fun! Local bands, local food and local artists will be displaying their wares. I have a table in front of Bomberos Wine Bar, so please do stop by and say hi! I will also be having a drawing for some prizes…. prizes like a FREE mini photo session and FREE matted fine art print. 

For those of you who have tried to access the Chelsea Hudson Photography website, I am having the site updated so there may be some bugs to be worked out this week… I will let you know when all is up and running smoothly again!!!
